Limpopo offers visitors a warm climate all year round where the sun never stops shining.
Summers are hot and dry with spectacular afternoon thunderstorms. Temperatures average from about 27 to 32°C with temperatures as high as 45°C in areas of the Lowveld. The Kruger National Park average on about 30°C during the summer.
Winters are dry and mild with very cold nights. Expect to change clothes during the day to accommodate for the weather.
Sunscreen and a hat are a necessity when visiting Limpopo. The South African sun is especially harsh in this province even when the sky is cloudy or in winter. Visitors from colder climates need to take special precaution to protect their skin from the harsh sun.
Limpopo is generally a malaria-free area. Visitors to the northern parts near the border with Zimbabwe or to the Lowveld should use a malaria prophylaxis and take the necessary precautions. Contact your lodge or hotel for more information about the risk of malaria in the area you are visiting.
